Essential oils are the Supertools that every mom needs! Once you have essential oils as tools in your home you’ll have a hard time remembering what you did without them. Help Fill a Dream holds a special place in Erin’s heart, and she first learned of the organization when her Superhero nephew was a recipient of a dream when he was just 5 years old. It was during this time that Erin first started really paying attention to reading labels, and transitioning to products without harmful chemicals.

Erin uses doTERRA in her own home because of their commitment to purity. She partners with doTERRA because of how they support their growers, harvesters, and distillers, and give back to the communities in which the plants are being grown + their products are being used. HFAD often come into the life of a family when things are at their worst. When a child is diagnosed with a life-threatening / critical condition a family’s focus becomes their child, their medical appointments and treatment; there’s no time for anything else. Since 1986 Help Fill a Dream Foundation has been supporting those families from Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands whose lives have suddenly changed due to their child’s diagnosis with a medical condition or severe health challenge.

How this fundraiser came to be:

When we received a call from Erin Silva about her vision for this fundraiser supporting Help Fill a Dream, we knew right away we wanted to help! We jumped on the phone with the team at Help Fill a Dream Foundation and started brainstorming ideas. To coincide with the launch of the 2022 superheroes calendar we decided to create a custom superheroes art kit. We begin designing and testing ideas with our amazing team and lead designer Eliska and are very proud of how everything came together.

For 35 years, Help Fill A Dream has been supporting families from Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands whose lives have suddenly changed due to their child’s diagnosis with a life-threatening / critical illness. The Help Fill A Dream family grows with every child helped. They don’t disappear when their assistance has been completed or their Dream has been filled. They strive to provide their families with other opportunities which may not be readily or easily available to them, while also helping to reinforce their connection as a group who are on a similar journey. For every superhero art kit purchased it will equate to a free art kit for a Help Fill a Dream family.

For children with life-threating / critical illnesses, extra-curricular activities can be a challenge. Whether it be a suppressed immune system, lack of accessibility, or financial or travel obstacles, these children can often face barriers to participation. Over the past two years, this has become increasingly difficult due to COVID isolation protocols and the extra risk to these children’s health and safety. We are thrilled to bring a meaningful activity to these children in their homes by initiating the “Even Superheroes Need Support” fundraiser!.

McTavish Academy of Art resides in a former elementary school building. The 18,000 sq/ft space has been transformed into a vibrant and inclusive arts facility. We are located at 1720 McTavish Rd in North Saanich, BC on Vancouver Island. The former Mctavish Rd School.

We design, laser cut and package these kits in house with our amazing team of artists. We also use local print shops for the printing of instructions. We are a family run community art center in North Saanich, BC on Vancouver Island.

Each kit is unique and includes everything needed to create your custom piece. For example the Superhero kit comes with laser cut wooden pieces, 8 paints, 3 brushes, wood glue, colour bifold instructions, colour mixing guide, felt crafts with velcro, compostable packing peanut crafts and more! First of all, thank you for your order! With our small but mighty team we are working on the creation of your order and it will be ready within 48 business hours from the time you place your order. To arrange a day for pick up please send us an email to admin@mctavishacademy.ca about 2 days after you place your order to arrange a day and time for pick up Monday-Saturday.

For monthly subscription pick up. Your order will always be ready for pick up on the first business day of each month, please send us an email to arrange pick up.

For the wooden items we use premium Baltic Birch wood sourced from a local wood shop. Baltic Birch is a higher quality wood that works great for art projects like this. It can be sanded if you would like to leave a natural look and easily painted. If you would like to leave your project outside we recommend the use of a wood sealer or varnish so that the wood does not absorb moisture (we do not provide this).

The paint is a water-based, non-toxic, fast drying acrylic paint. For use in general arts and crafts, stencilling, ceramics, school projects, home decor, decorative painting and many other surfaces. Shake well. Intermixable, use water to clean up promptly. Adult supervision is recommended, do not ingest paint.

Please note: Acrylic paint is water based and  can be removed from most non-porous surfaces before the paint dries, but it may not come off all surfaces or fabric. Once the paint dries, it can be very difficult to remove if it comes off at all. We always recommend setting up your crafting area by wearing crafting clothing, covering your surrounding area and any furniture around you. Once the paint dries on skin it will come off by scrubbing with soap and warm water.

All of our kits are created for all ages 5-105! Although we do not recommend the art kits for kids younger than 3 due to small parts, many kids ages 4-7 have lots of fun creating with these kits with some help from a parent or guardian. For example, Lulu who is featured on some of the art kit video’s is 7 years old.
