Each camp has different activities planned and if you are joining us for multiple weeks it will be a new and creative experience. Limited size with two lead instructors plus floating support to ensure we provide an engaging and personalized camp experience. Children will have the opportunity to experience a variety of creating mediums using paints, crafts, clay, nature art, printmaking and more! Ages 6-8 and 7-10 available.

McTavish Academy Of Art is located on 4.2 acres in North Saanich. The 18,000 sq foot facility has multiple studios and gardens as well as indoor and outdoor play space for children to explore. Winter Camp will be held in our indoor studio with outdoor activities weather permitting. March break and Summer Camps will be held in our outdoor open air covered studios with backup indoor studios and gymnasium.

“My son loved the camp and said it was the best one he’s ever been to, which made me very happy! Staff were interested, friendly and fun. We will definitely be back next summer. Thank you MAOA!!!”

Summer Camps are limited size and have two lead instructors plus floating support to ensure we provide an engaging and personalized camp experience. Spring break camps and Pro D are also limited size to ensure we provide a great experience. We are fortunate to have a fantastic team of creative, experienced and passionate instructors.

Our lead instructor and art director, originally from Ontario, Laura Evans moved to Vancouver Island in late 2020. She has BA in Indigenous Studies from Trent University, and is self-taught in her art practice, using curiosity as a compass to navigate and motivate learning. Laura is passionate about creativity beyond the boundaries of medium, style and genre. With years of varied experience with art instruction and studio management, Laura is excited to delve into and create with the vibrant community of MAOA.

While versed in a variety of visual mediums, Laura’s favourite medium for her own work is usually pen and ink. She is a seeker of patterns and designs, and loves to use her artwork to explore storytelling, self-expression, mental-health, the environment, and more. Laura has a special interest in making art out of scrap or leftover materials which would otherwise be destined for landfills. She has a golden retriever named Watson, who is equal parts cuddle and trouble.
