July 2nd – 5th (4day) 9am-12pm

Artists will create their own robots, dragons, castle and/or tower sculpture. Materials will include found items, recyclables, and more. References will be provided for inspiration, but each artist is able to design, sculpt and paint their own unique piece.

In this series we will explore various forms of painting and drawing. Watercolour, acrylics, ink, charcoals, pastels and more. We will be experimenting and creating different projects lead by a professional art instructor. No experience is necessary. All supplies and curated projects included.

Artists will explore line, shape, colour and form to create cartoons in various styles. Using a variety of mediums (drawing, painting, sculpting) artists can depict narratives in comic strips, characters in anime or manga style

In this series we will explore a new medium each week! Including acrylics, watercolours, sculpting, drawing, and mixed-media. This camp is ideal for beginners, but open for all experience levels. All materials will be provided.

Artists will explore hand-building techniques using a variety of air-dry clays to create sculptures or small pottery pieces. Beginner-friendly, but open to artists of any experience level.

Artists will create a cloth-like art piece by interlacing yarn, thread, or fabric strips on a loom or similar substrate. Guided by an instructor, artists will learn basic weaving technique and terminology. This course is designed for beginners, but all levels are welcome. All supplies provided

Artists will explore D&D inspired world and character creation using a variety of mediums to craft their experience. (In Dungeons & Dragons, the players form an adventuring party who explore fantasy worlds together as they embark on epic quests)

In this 3-part series we will explore the various types and styles of graffiti artwork. We will lightly cover the history, ethics and practicing artists of the graffiti world.

Our program is designed to celebrate classic hip hop technique, skills, and moves, as well as choreography that echoes the spirit of the genre’s evolution.

Welcome to Global Groove Camp, where the world becomes your dance floor! Dive into the exhilarating fusion of cultures and rhythms that shape the global landscape of hip hop dance. This half-day summer session is a vibrant exploration of the colorful tapestry of international influence on hip hop movement. Make this a full day by registering for the morning hip hop camp.

Kids love secret codes and puzzles, and we’ll explore all sorts of codes and mysteries that existed before computer programming like morse, nautical flags, trail markers, baseball signals, code wheels, treasure maps, and more. Using creative storytelling, each week our robots will learn how to crack another mysterious code or puzzle while we learn how to program the robots. Facilitated by STEAM educators ZEN Maker Lab.

Let’s go on a trip to the VR game world! In this camp you will learn how to develop things for Virtual Reality while learning about the physics and movements of the 3D world. Discover the technology behind 3D builds and design multiple 3D worlds and characters using the HatchXR platform. Finished games will be published on browser and mobile and can be experienced in Virtual reality mode using our Zen Google cardboard VR headsets, that students can assemble. Past maker experience is helpful but no previous experience necessary. Facilitated by STEAM educators ZEN Maker Lab.

If your child loves drawing and making cartoons this animation camp is for you! During the week your child will learn animation skills for making their own films. Students will bring their sketchbook to life through animation while learning about designing and animating 3D characters. Explore different cultural graphic art styles from countries around the world such as Japanese anime character design. In addition, they will design their own storyboards and fabricate miniature characters. Facilitated by STEAM educators ZEN Maker Lab.

Introduce your child to all there is to know about environmental filmmaking. This camp will teach the fundamentals of becoming your own eco-documentary filmmaker. Students will explore the basics of filmmaking and photography, focusing on our local rainforests, understanding ocean protection, waste reduction, while exploring the beauty of BC’s west coast. Students will engage in recording their own work, while understanding the fundamentals of editing, and how to engage their audience from behind the lens. Participants will learn the basics of how photography and video cameras work. No previous experience necessary. Facilitated by STEAM educators ZEN Maker Lab.
