Yoga Class Descriptions
Drop in Classes:
Mondays 9:00 – 10:15am This class is part passive Yin Yoga postures and part active “Yang” Yoga (Hatha, etc.,) postures. In Yin Yoga we go deep and hold seated and reclined postures (asanas) for 2-5 minutes. This increases pranic energy and circulation gently targeting the joints and surrounding connective tissues. In “Yang” styles of yoga we build strength and flexibility in an active asana practice. Yin challenges you to sit in presence of awareness; this quality of presence then informs your active Yoga practice.
Mondays 7:30 – 8:30 pm
Men’s Monday Yoga is a class for men of all skill levels! This class will involve the basics of yoga and provide guidance on how to build up to more advanced postures. Designed as a holistic class, we will touch on both strength and flexibility aspects of yoga, as well the philosophy behind the practice.
Tuesdays 5:45 – 6:45 pm
Class time moving to 6:25 – 7:15pm on Sept. 11
Hatha classes offer gentle stretching and strengthening postures, breathing exercises and mindful meditation suitable for beginners and ongoing students.
Wednesdays 7:15 – 8:30 pm Yin Yoga is the wonderful counter balance to other dynamic styles of yoga, athletics, and our fast paced life. Postures are passively held longer, and are done seated or reclined on a comfortable mat and blanket. Yin yoga safely targets and “stresses” joints and deeper connective tissue, which can prevent contracture, fixation of the joints and promote joint hydration.
Thursdays 6:00 – 7:00 pm
This quiet, slow practice helps restore nervous system balance and can release deeply held tensions. We use props to support the postures to allow the breath, mind, and body to settle and invite deep relaxation and healing. This class is appropriate for students of all levels.
