Description
The “Tapestry for Beginners” workshop consists of 5 sessions of 3 hours each. We will introduce the basic concepts of working with a loom including the cultural and historical context. You will learn the process of warping, design, composition and weaving for 2 pieces of tapestry using various techniques.

Contents
Class 1: Knowing the tools and learning to warp
Class 2: Weaving in the weft face with horzontal change of color.
Class 3: Review of warping and fringe.
Class 4: Weft faced weaving with grooves.
Class 5: Endings and presentation of tapestries

Methodology
During each class there will be practical work which will gradually increase in complexity. You will be carfully guided in the process through specific examples. Techniques will be reviewed class by class, including individual and group feedback.

Instructor:

Isabel González, is Chilean artisan living in Victoria. A psychologist and textile artist with more than 7 years of experience in craft work, teaching and art therapy. Currently researching and testing ways to promote the link between textile practice, thought, conversation, and ultimately meeting oneself.
